For wooden floors in good condition, an extra coat of lacquer or oil can refresh the surface and extend its protection without full sanding. This option is suitable only when the floor has no deep scratches, peeling, yellowing or cracks.
When appropriate, we lightly buff the surface to ensure proper adhesion before applying the new topcoat. This strengthens the finish, improves durability and restores the natural look of the wood.
For oiled floors, re-oiling every 6–8 months is recommended to keep the wood nourished and protected.
Using a spray cleaner with a microfibre mop is one of the safest ways to clean wooden floors. The light mist avoids excess moisture, preventing water from sitting on the surface and protecting the wood from warping or swelling.
The pH-balanced cleaner removes dirt without damaging the finish, while the microfibre mop lifts debris without scratching. Together, they provide a fast-drying, wood-safe way to keep floors clean, protected and looking their best.
Too much water during cleaning can damage wooden floors by seeping into the wood through small gaps, causing planks to swell, warp or lift over time. This is more likely in areas with higher humidity or poor ventilation.
Over-wetting can also break down the protective finish, leading to dullness, discolouration and greater sensitivity to scratches and stains. Repeated exposure to excess moisture may even cause boards to loosen or creak.
To protect your floor, we recommend using a lightly damp microfibre mop and applying cleaner with a spray, never soaking the surface. Low-moisture, fast-drying methods help keep wooden floors looking beautiful and lasting longer.
